Coney Island State of Mind

Ok, so maybe the title of my post doesn’t quite qualify for a “Wheel of Fortune” Before and After puzzle the way that Billy Joel or Jay-Z’s similarly-named songs do, but I’m still pretty excited...Parking Space will be making its New York premiere at the super-mega-fun looking Coney Island Film Festival!

For the past 3 years, the fest has been named one of the top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee by Moviemaker magazine, and I can tell why! The opening night kicks off with a good old-fashioned burlesque and freak show, and the fest wraps up with all the filmmakers getting to ride the Coney Island bumper cars! Will the Elephant Man be there? Only time will tell.

I also just found out that they’ll be honouring Darren Aronofsky at the fest, and he’ll be in attendance!

Parking in Bangkok!

Another international screening for Parking Space is just around the corner...this time at the Bangkok Indiefest in Thailand. This is the inaugural festival and looks like it will be a great weekend of films in a lively artistic community setting. Man, I wish I could make it to all the places Parking Space has been! At least this way my name will be known for more than jeans.

Parking Space: Coming to a robot near you!

I’m proud to announce that Parking Space is now available in fine vintage art-dispensing cigarette machines throughout Montreal!

That’s right, the good folks at the Distroboto project have agreed to sell the film! For the low-low price of $2, you get a full 20min short film plus a little DVD extra, all in a neat little package.

The only catch is that it’s a Mini-DVD, so you need a tray-loading DVD player to be able to watch it. (That means no Macbooks or iMacs, PS3’s or any other slot-loading players. It should play fine on the Wii though and most PCs or stand-alone DVD players).

As of this writing, I’ve seen it stocked at the Casa del Popolo location. Not sure if the other ones have been loaded up yet.

Underground Parking

So it looks like Parking Space is going underground at the Montreal Underground Film Fest! The appropriately acronymed MUFF has selected the film to play as part of it’s Scary Monsters and Super-Freaks program!

And while you’re at it, support this great little festival by going to see as many movies as you can! It runs from the 13th-15th with a bustin’ opening party at Sala Rossa on the 13th.

Parking Space premieres to sold out crowd!

Parking Space made its world premiere tonight at the Fant-Asia film festival in Montreal tonight to a sold-out crowd!

Despite an unusually dark projection, the crowd seemed to love it.
